On January 2, 2022, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Damodar Modi and Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Shri Pushkar Dhami proudly inaugurated the Phato Zone in Jim Corbett National Park. This part of the park, also known as the Terai West Forest, is nestled in the northern section of Jim Corbett National Park. It sits cozily next to the Amangarh Tiger Reserve to the west.
Due to the steadily rising number of tourists, the creative idea to set up a photo zone was put into action. This comes as a move to expand the park from the existing six zones, making the photo zone the seventh in Jim Corbett Park.
Sprawling over 2516.70 hectares, this section of park has been designated as a part of the photo zone. It’s home to a diverse range of wildlife, and provides ample opportunities for you to click pictures. Imagine a close-up shot of the Royal Bengal Tiger, or deer prancing about, or elegant birds catching their prey, or even an elephant just passing by!
What makes this zone even more appealing to the wildlife is the large man-made water reservoirs featured within. Sometimes, you might just spot a Royal Bengal Tiger quenching its thirst by the water side. The presence of various animal and bird species surely adds a scenic touch to your jungle safari.
